Returns & Order Cancellations Policy

At hodgdonreloadingsupplies, customer safety, product integrity, and strict legal compliance govern every order we process. Because smokeless powders and primers are federally regulated Class 1 Explosives, our return and cancellation policies reflect strict Transport Canada Dangerous Goods (TDG) guidelines and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) storage requirements.

1. Return Policy: Regulated Hazardous Materials

Final Sale on All Powders & Primers

Due to federal safety regulations, legal liability, and chain-of-custody requirements, all sales of smokeless powders and primers are strictly FINAL SALE.

  • Why We Cannot Accept Returns: Once a regulated hazardous material leaves our climate-controlled vault, its chain of custody is broken. We cannot guarantee that returned propellants or primers were not exposed to extreme heat, excessive humidity, contamination, or improper storage. To ensure that every customer receives 100% factory-fresh, safe, and uncompromised components, we never restock or resell returned powders or primers.

  • Non-Hazardous Equipment & Accessories: Unopened, non-hazardous tools, reloading manuals, or hardware accessories may be returned within 30 days of purchase, subject to a standard inspection and restocking fee. Return shipping costs for non-hazardous goods are the responsibility of the customer.

2. Order Cancellation Policy

Because hazardous goods shipments require immediate automated batch verification and specialized warehouse processing, cancellation windows are time-sensitive.

  • Cancellations Before Dispatch: You may request an order cancellation before your shipment has been picked and processed by our warehouse team. If approved, your payment will be refunded minus standard payment processing gateway fees.

  • Cancellations After Dispatch: Once a Dangerous Goods shipping label has been generated, UN-certified packaging assigned, or the package handed off to a certified courier network, the order cannot be cancelled, rerouted, or recalled.

  • Address Correction Errors: Please double-check your shipping details before placing an order. Changes to physical street addresses cannot be made once a package is in transit with a TDG-certified carrier.

3. Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Shipments

We take extreme care in packaging your components using heavy-duty UN-rated containers and single-lot batch verification. In the rare event an issue occurs during transit:

  • Visible Transit Damage: If a package arrives showing severe external damage, point out the damage to the courier driver before signing for the delivery, or accept the shipment and take immediate photos of the damaged outer box and inner contents.

  • Reporting Window: You must report any transit damage, missing items, or shipping discrepancies to our customer support team within 48 hours of delivery.

  • Resolution Process: Contact our support team with your order number, direct tracking details, and clear photographs of the outer packaging, hazardous labels, and affected product. Upon verification, we will initiate a carrier claim and arrange for a replacement shipment or store credit.

4. Refused Deliveries & Undeliverable Shipments

  • Adult Signature Requirement: All shipments require an Adult Signature (18+ or 19+ depending on your province/territory) with valid government-issued photo ID.

  • Refused Packages / Unclaimed Depot Pickups: If a customer refuses delivery, fails to provide required age verification ID, or fails to pick up a held package from a certified courier depot within the carrier’s allotted timeframe, the shipment will be returned to our facility.

  • Fee Deductions on Returned Shipments: Because carriers charge specialized return Dangerous Goods freight fees, any refunded amount for refused or unclaimed shipments will be minus actual round-trip shipping charges, courier hazardous handling fees, and a 15% administrative restocking fee.
